Several brides are concerned with the order of events at their wedding reception.  Our wedding DJ experience has proven to us that the order of events at your wedding reception plays a very important role in how the celebration will unfold.  We have tweaked our recommendations over the past several years, and are confident with the following order of events for your wedding reception (Plan on a 3.5-4.5 hours reception depending on a buffet or sit down style dinner):

  • Hors d’ourves for guests with easy mood music
  • Welcome the bridal party to the reception
  • First dance as a married couple
  • Father/Daughter Dance
  • Mother/Son Dance (if your parents aren’t big dancers, you can relieve some pressure from them by combining the Mother/Son with the Father/Daughter dance)
  • Buffet opens or dinner is served
  • Cake cutting
  • Toasts
  • Bride opens dance floor (Tell all of your guests thanks for coming to celebrate, now let’s start the party)
  • Dancing
  • Bouquet/Garter removal/toss
  • More dancing
  • Last dance
  • Send off
  • Honeymoon!!!!

Here is another wedding reception order of events that works well:

  • Hors d’ourves for guests with easy mood music
  • Welcome the bridal party to the reception
  • First dance as a married couple
  • Buffet opens or dinner is served
  • Cake cutting
  • Toasts
  • Father/Daughter Dance
  • Mother/Son Dance (if your parents aren’t big dancers, you can relieve some pressure from them by combining the Mother/Son with the Father/Daughter dance)
  • Dancing
  • Bouquet/Garter removal/toss
  • More dancing
  • Last dance
  • Send off
  • Honeymoon!!!!
